Start with people and understand context

In-context observations are key to understanding the implicit needs of users.

People are the least predictable part of any medical system, but that does not mean that we must resort to guesswork. Future Medical Systems uses a range of qualitative research techniques than enable us to capture hidden as well as explicit needs, identify key moments and opportunities, and ultimately improve people’s overall experience.

The outcome of this process is a set of design principles based on an empathetic understanding of your users: rules to guide system development.

Deliver an experience, not a moment

This experience blueprint shows the experience of an pediatric ENT specialist, their patient, and the parents as they learn about and experience a novel ear surgery technique. The yellow blocks represent artifacts delivered by the medical device company to support the experience.

Your offering is part of a story. We have developed powerful tools to help tell that story.

An Experience Blueprint shows how all the key stakeholders interact over time. It highlights the social and emotional dynamics of a system and allows us to optimize usage, adoption, adherence, or other behavior changes.

The Blueprint situates each element of the complete system of artifacts  that support the experience, including onboarding materials, accessories and instructions for use. It demonstrates how they come together as a coherent, experience-based system.

Take it from idea to implementation

This is the patent on which Eli Lilly's newEST self-injection device is based. ONE of the Future Medical Systems team was a co-inventor of the key mechanism that makes auto-retraction possible.

Future Medical Systems has the deep medical and health care experience that enables us to translate insights into finished solutions in the real world.

We deliver actionable strategies that often include creating new partnerships, securing new IP and plotting a route through regulatory, manufacturing and financial hurdles.

We can also provide detailed, hands-on direction for industrial design, engineering development, software (including UX/UI), training materials, supply chain development and auditing.
